Yes. We are a real company, and we have been helping ESA owners since 2015. But "legit" deserves a longer answer than that, because in this industry the honest question is not whether the company exists — it is whether what you are buying does what you think it does.

We sell two different things, and only one of them carries legal weight. We would rather you understood the difference before you buy than after.

An ESA housing letter is a signed letter from a mental health professional licensed in your state, written after a HIPAA-secure video evaluation. Under the Fair Housing Act a housing provider may ask for documentation of a disability-related need for an assistance animal, and that letter is the documentation. It is the thing a landlord or property manager is entitled to ask for, and the thing they are responding to when they grant an accommodation.

The evaluation is a real clinical assessment, not a formality. If the clinician decides an emotional support animal is not appropriate for you, you are not charged. Full details, and the price, are on the ESA letter page.

A registration is a profile for your animal in our database, a unique ID number, and whichever items you choose to go with it: a PVC ID card for your wallet, a vest or harness, patches, a collar tag, and a certificate you download. What those do is answer the question before anyone has to ask it — at a front desk, in a lobby, with a curious neighbor. They save you explaining yourself to a stranger.

What they do not do is create legal status. No ID card, certificate or database entry, from us or from anyone else, gives your animal a right it would not otherwise have. If a website tells you that registering your animal is what makes it an ESA, or that an ID card is required by law, that website is wrong. The letter is the instrument. The registration is the convenience.

• What it is: a listing in our database with a unique ID number, plus the ID cards and gear you pick. Anyone who finds your animal can look that number up on our ID search page and be put in touch with you through our contact form.
• What it isn't: a license, a legal requirement, or a substitute for a letter. There is no federal ESA registry — not ours, not anyone else's.
• Where the rights come from: the Fair Housing Act. That duty is live law. A housing provider may ask for documentation of a disability-related need, may not ask for your medical records or your diagnosis, and may refuse only in limited circumstances. You remain responsible for any damage your animal causes.
• Where they don't apply: air travel. Since the Department of Transportation's rule change in January 2021, airlines have not been required to carry emotional support animals in the cabin, and each airline sets its own policy. A site selling you an "ESA travel letter" is selling a document that no longer does that job. We do not sell one.

Apply this to us, and to every site you are comparing us against.

1. Does it claim registration is required by law? It isn't, for an emotional support animal or a service dog. This one claim is the most common tell in the category.
2. Is there a real clinician, licensed in your state? A valid housing letter carries the provider's name, license number, state of licensure and signature. If nobody actually evaluates you, what you have bought is a template.
3. Is approval guaranteed? It should not be. A service that approves everybody has assessed nobody. Ours is a genuine assessment, and you are only charged if you are approved.
4. Does it promise you a seat on a plane? Since January 2021 nobody can honestly promise that. Treat it as a red flag on any site, including a claim that a letter "still works" with airlines.
5. Are the prices visible before checkout? Ours are listed on the shop and on the ESA letter page.
6. Can you reach a person? Ours is the support page. If a site gives you no route to a human before you pay, do not assume there is one after.
